My phone is going crazy! NEED HELP FAST

Sometimes when I try to take my phone out of hibernate mode, the screen will show a flash if light (most of the time white or white and black striped, but sometimes blue gray or purple) usually lasting from 1-2 seconds, then it turns itself off. When I try to turn it on (both power and home buttons together and just power button) I am left staring at a blank screen for about 10 minutes. When O finally get it to the apple screen, I wait for about 30 seconds then it gives the flash of light again and I have to turn it on again. Sometimes I get lucky and I don't have to wait ten minutes to get it to the apple screen, but most of the time I have to turn it on about 5-15 times. I have wasted too many hours and wasted up to 60% of my battery just trying to get my phone on. Please help me.

Will the phone ever completely turn on, or just it only exist in this cycle? If it does turn on, what causes it to enter it's restarting cycle again?

Honestly speaking you should just get a new phone because it's going to be difficult to find parts for the 3Gs

I'm guessing it's the logic board inside of the phone because it's the part of the phone that stores all of the information and boot sequences or whatever. I would try and buy one off eBay for parts though.
