Why won't controller turn on all the time?

I got a non-working controller second hand and thought it just needed a new battery. Opened it up and found it to have a bad battery as well as some corrosion around the screw holding the main board. It covered a few resisters probably because of the battery or possible environment conditions. Cleaned up the corrosion and installed a new battery. I was able to plug controller into ps3 and get it to charge as well as work but it will randomly turn off and is very difficult to get unit to turn on. I've cleaned entire board and pad circuitry with alcohol but still no joy. Any suggestions to possibly get this working reliable again?

Answer this question I have this problem too

I'm thinking one of the solder joints is weak because of corrosion. What two contacts on the board are the PS button? I need to simulate pressing it to test without having to constantly take it in and out of casing.
