Water damage, not charging, but starts up, shuts down immediately powe

My son spilled large glass of fizzywater+orange on macbook air. Stopped immediately. Went off to Western Digital and came back with " confirmed extensive liquid damage. Due to type of suspected contamination we are unable to service the mac. We are not able to get any dat off the Mac. We would recommend purchasing a new machine" I have plugged it in to charger and it starts up no problem. All seems to work and currently copying some files to main computer. On top menu bar it says not charging and if you unplug the power cord the machine immediately goes dead. Plug it back in and it starts up without you pressing the start button. Am I just lucky it is doing this and will it probably just die totally at some point? Or are there some repairs I could attempt? Any suggestions would be really appreciated. Thanks, David
