Dark screen with apple logo and title of song slightly visible!

Upon changing songs in my car, my classic froze. The screen is almost black but I can see the apple logo and the song that it froze on along with "ok to disconnect". Pressing of all buttons will not bring it back to life. It has been charging all day and still nothing. HELP.....I have thousands of old songs on it!

1.Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.) ...

2.Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
