Home screen won't load

I had an 'install update' pop up in my notification panel that came up every 3 hrs

I was trying to avoid updating because it said it would reboot my tab

I clicked install by accident yesterday and panicked and turned it off during re boot process

Now when I try to use it there's just a black screen saying something like 'app installer failed to load' and the only way I can get to apps is by using s voice

Anything I can do? Preferably without rebooting but if that's what needs to be done
