How to retrieve device memory if device won't turn on

I dropped my Note II. It will now not power on or show any signs of life. The screen did not crack though. It basically looks fine, but will not do anything at all. It does not show that it is charging not does it respond when I plug it into my computer. I had an SD card, but unfortunately the data that I need to retrieve is stored on the device's internal storage, which includes:

  • Gallery photos
  • Gallery videos
  • photos and videos stored in vault password protected applications
  • application folder data (I am thinking if I can retrieve this I can redownload the same application onto my new device and transfer this recovered app data to view it on the new one).

Is there a way that I can retrieve this device's internal storage? Is there like a motherboard memory chip that can be read?

I have a replacement (same device) working phone and can use this if need be in any way that it can help. I am not worried about keeping the new phone in working order if I need to use it for parts or even as a conduit to get the device storage off of the broken phone. My main concern is retrieving priceless data that I should have been more diligent in backing up.

The irony is that I write for a tech blog and help people with their phones all of the time. Hardware problems are unfortunately beyond my capabilities, so I am hoping someone can help me.

Any input is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!
