So I changed the dock connector which was all screwed up. But now after replacing it and putting everything back together the ipod turns on but the battery won't charge past the red bar. It says "charging is not supported with this accesory". The computer and itunes recognize the ipod. What could be the issue? Thanks.

The issue would definetly be that the new chargin port is not authentic. Many fake parts are good but the price shows it all. You will need to buy an original port.
Else if it's not the case, then either the wire is fake or how you assembled the port in plce.

I have reattached the dock connector and now it works. It was a problem with the soldering I guess.
