Options

Replacement battery won't fully charge

I followed the guide to replace the battery in an old iPhone 3GS that we plan to take on an overseas trip. With the new battery in place, the phone only charges to about 58% when plugged into a wall charger. If I plug it into a computer it actually seems to discharge. Does anyone have any thoughts about what might be going on? Bad battery? Short somewhere?

After connecting to the wall charger again, while the charging indicator is on, it doesn't seem like it is charging at all. Any help appreciated.
