Which LCD cable did I accidentally shear, and is it salvageable?

When removing the LCD from my busted laptop, I accidentally severed a ribbon cable. I think it goes to the inverter but I'm seeking confirmation.

I was hoping to buy an LCD controller board and turn this into a standalone screen, but will damaging this wire compromise my ability to do that? If so, where can I purchase a new one?

If necessary, I can provide further images.

Sure looks like the backlight cable. This will depend on what model panel it is and it would be great to see more pictures of where the cable comes from and where it is supposed to be.

Thanks for the reply! As requested, I updated the main post with a bunch of new images. Hopefully that makes it easier to determine what's going on.

Sam, any chance you could post an image of your LVDS connector on the panel itself as well? Trying to research a controller for your panel.

Certainly! I updated the main post again - scroll down to 'Update 2' at the bottom. I really appreciate your interest in helping.

Perfect. Lets see if we can find out if there is a controller for it, what the price is and if it comes with all the cables.

Sam, thank you for the additional images. Yes, that is the LED backlight cable. It should be possible to get a new cable, just a matter of knowing what computer this panel came out of. It is being used in multiple models, like a Lenovo Ideapad Y530 etc. Great idea to get a controller board. I just finished such a conversion and was very pleasantly surprised about the quality. Check the guide on here. It came with all the cables and it was very straight forward. You may want to contact the vendor of the controller board you have in mind and see if theirs will come with all the cables as well. This would eliminate the need for you to purchase one. Hope this helps, good luck.
