How do I fix xbox 360 green circle but doesn't work?

I have a X Box 360 console that the circle light goes around blinking as usual but then turns solid and nothing is on the TV. The disc tray will not open either. I have unplugged it and left it unplugged for 24 hours and vacuumed the dust out as much as I can without taking it apart. I can hear the fan going but that is it. Does anyone know how I can fix this problem. I called Customer Service and they said it is something internal. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

oldturkey03: I bought a new AV cable for the XBox 360 but it still did not work. I decided to try my DVD player in the same outlet on the TV and it didn't work so I think it may be the connection on the TV itself. Thank you so much for all your help.

Floria, four flashing lights indicates that the console does not detect an audio/video (AV) cable. Make sure that the AV cable is correctly connected to the Xbox 360 console. Disconnect the AV cable from the Xbox 360 console, and then reconnect the AV cable to the Xbox 360 console, from here I know you already tried all that but do wanted to add it for completion sake.

If the 4 red lights continue to flash, try wiping the metal area of the AV pack with a dry cloth. The metal area is the end that plugs into the console. Wipe the metal area thoroughly, and then try the AV Pack again. If the AV cable is correctly connected but the four red lights are still flashing, substitute a different AV cable if you have one available.

Flush the cache memory by following the steps below:

-Shutdown your Xbox 360 console

-Press and hold the SYNC button first, then press the POWER button together.

-When your console reboots, let go of the POWER button BUT keep on pressing the SYNC button

-When your console has completed rebooting, all cache memory will be flushed.

from here. But, that is a pay site and all the information is available in the public domain.

Check on here for further information and how to determine secondary error codes and see what you come up with. It is my gut feeling that you do have an overheating problem (but try the easy stuff first) If your error is caused by overheating, the kit should fix it. Of course make sure that your Xbox is not covered by warranty or anything like that. You would not want to void it. Also make sure that you clean it well of any dust and obstruction and that you provide good air circulation to prevent any overheating issues. Of course it is also possible (less likely) that you have a variant of the RROD, which would need a different approach. Hope this helps, good luck.

oldturkey03 : The console green light in the middle comes on first. Then the green lights go around the circle. then the green light turns solid for about 2 seconds. Then the green light in the middle is all that is on. None of them are red or blinking. I tried the disconnecting from the console and tv, Then reconnected after I wiped it with a clean cloth but it still is not showing up on my tv. I also tried the SYNC button suggestion but that didn't work either. I can hear the fan running in the back but that is all. Oh and the rectangle thing that connects the console to the electrical cord is yellow before I push the power button and then turns green.

Don't know if any of this helps you help me but I thought I would let you know. Thanks for any help you can give.

This worked for me.

Ensure no remotes (wired or wireless are attached). Press sync key . While its pushed turn the power on but do not let go off the sync key. It may take few seconds to couple of minutes for the system cache to be deleted. The unit will power-on fine after that.
