MacBook won't turn on, not even green LED on charger

Hi,

I have a Macbook 17" Unibody that doesn't turn on at all, the green LED on the charger doesn't glow, tried 2 different chargers.

There's just no response, no fans running, no beep nothing at all.

I just want to know if its just the batter that is dead so I can order another or something else, how do I determine that? Is there a way to turn on without the battery so I can confirm its not the logic board?

Thanks

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Can you give us the last three digits of your serial number so we can correctly identify which model you have.

Dead systems are always tough to diagnose ;-{

To start with: Did the system get wet or dropped? Can you give us background on its history? Was this a new system when you got it or used? Often these give us clues on what to look for.

What chargers did you use? If you look an the side of the charger in light grey print you should see some information (look at the plug side) you want to make sure you have an 85 Watt unit. Was the other units the same? Did they work on other MacBook Pro system?

Looking at the system & the charger does the MagSafe connector look OK not dirty or melted. Using a cotton swab slightly damp with some Isopropyl alcohol (85% or better), wipe down the contacts.

Are you able to open your system up? Do you have the correct tools and work area (ESD mat & wrist strap)

If you can carefully pop open the cover to inspect things that would be a good start.

But, before we can do this we need to know which model you have can you give us the last three digits of your serial number so we can point you to the correct guide.

Hi,

No, it did not get dropped or wet. It just stopped working one day. I've used it with great care for last 3.5yrs or so when I got it new.

I used the charger that came with it, and thinking the charger might be faulty, I asked the Apple service guy to test another for me, I'm not sure which one he used but that didn't work as well. My magsafe connector is in perfection condition, no damage at all.

Yes I'm able to open up the system. I read on the forums that sometimes the battery connector is loose so I opened up and disconnected-reconnected it but that didn't work either.

The model A1297, Last 3 digits of the serial number are C79.

Thanks for your help!

Sadly, your serial number didn't come back with a model for us. Here's a listing of the A1297 models EveryMac can you tell us which one of these is yours?
