Known as the ''PS2'', it is a sixth-generation video game console first released by Sony in Japan in March 2000. The United States saw it later in 2000 with the SCPH-30000. Repair of this device requires only common tools, but can get tricky.

Why will my ps2 only play blue disks and not silver?

Hi,

My ps2 recently stopped playing silver disks but still plays blue disks fine. Can this be fixed? If so, how?

Thanks.

There are 2 different lasers in the reader one for each type of disk. One can go out with the other still working. They can be replaced with some eas. Just look up a tutorial of lazer replacement in the PS2 if you are thinking about doing it yourself. As a side note there are several different versions of the lazer. You may need to pop it open to see which one you need to order.

Thank you! Do you think any stores will fix it? (I'm not the best person with technology..)

A large majority of cell phone repair stores/computer repair stores will also repair game consoles.
