Frank Poole, I am wondering if it is the same Nook HD from your other question. There is the possibility that you will need a new display, check your other question for the how to etc., If it is a different one, you may want to try a Factory Reset and see if that will help. "Hold the Power button and Home (n) buttons. The device will turn on. Continue to hold both buttons until the device shuts off once again (~15-20 seconds). Turn the device on normally. It will prompt for a factory reset. Press the Home button twice to confirm. From here. Hope this helps, good luck.

Don't do a factory reset til uve backed everything up or moved it to an external sd card! U will lose everything! Mine has this same issue. The battery would start to heat up, which I've read happens frequently with nooks, & becomes unresponsive/freezes. I just shut it down, wait about 15 min or so til it cools down. When its turned back on its fine.
