HP Laptop 510 takes too long too boot up, very slow?

My laptop takes over an hour to boot up. Once booted it is incredibly slow to respond. Can take minutes to load an internet page. Can I speed it up to near original?

Update

Have now returned to manufacturers original settings having backed up files.

Have lost Microsoft office. It doesn't connect to my wireless router now despite it being 'seen' with strong signal it says there is no signal!

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

This sounds like a software issue. Your best option is to wipe the harddrive and start from scratch. Google will supply you with all the info you need if you are not familiar with formatting your harddrive (if you're using Windows XP, do a search for "format hdd windows xp"). Youtube is also a good place to look.

Make sure to back up sensitive data like work files and projects, pictures, audio and video files, etc. on a separate disk (or cloud storage service like Dropbox or Google Drive).

1. Update your antivirus and scan the system for viruses and malwares.

2. De-fragment your system.

3. You can download ccleaner. to clean your registry, your web browsers and obsolete files in the system.

This might improve on the speed.
