ge profile convection micro fan runs when door opens, won't heat

I have a two year old over-the-range GE Profile microwave. Suddenly I noticed that when I open the door, the internal fan starts running. The fan turns off when I close the door. Also, the timer runs, but the microwave does not heat. All other funcitions appear normal.
