Why won't my phone recognize that it's charging?

Whenever I plug my iPhone 4 in to charge, the phone doesn't recognize that the cable is in and will not charge my phone. I've been struggling with this for months and ordered a new charging port made specifically for my AT&T iPhone (meaning, I purchased and received the correct one).

Anyways, I recently re-installed that new charging port, doing everything correctly (I believe), and it still will not charge. I am wondering if it may be my charging cable itself, but I almost doubt it. I will purchase another one of those today, just in case. I almost wonder if it may be the battery connecting cable, too, but I feel as though if that were the case, the phone would still recognize that it is charging, but there would be no charge entering the phone. I could be wrong, but hopefully that is where you guys come in.

If this has been an issue for anyone else that may know what is going on/have fixed this problem, I would greatly appreciate some assistance.

I would have to say to check the charge port for any signs or corrosion even if it's new. You can take a q tip and clean the port with Isopropyl alcohol. Just be careful about leaving stray hairs from the q tip.l Also, if the charge port that you plug into the wall isn't the right strength then it would take forever to charge. If all this fails then more than likely it's the battery even a new or newer one can be bad or go bad very quickly.
