iPod 80 classic turns on and plays, no sound?

Turns on and is playing but when plugged into any of my listening devices I can't hear sound. When plugged into headphone jack you can hear the "pop" when connected but still no sound.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

if you restore your iPod and it doesn't fix it, you're looking at two distinct possibilities-either your headphone jack is broken, (preferable option, they're cheap) or your motherboard is broken (not so preferable, they're more expensive) I would suggest buying a headphone/hold switch assembly off ebay for around 4 dollars, and if it doesn't work, hey, you're only out four dollars!

It is probably a problem with the ear phones if you are only using apple ear phones. In that chase you must disasemble and check the conections with a speaker. If that does nothing try resetting all of the iPod settings and sync again on you computer.
