The sounds on my phone don't work when I play video and also will only sometimes play the sound when I get a text message. The sound does work when I get a call and for some other notifications. What would make it the sound play for some functions, but not others?

Have you had a look at the settings? This seems to be a setting fault as this has happened to me, I would advice you look throughout all setting panels and make sure all is n working order, let me know how you get on.

Yes, that was the first thing that I did. I have also done a soft reset. Not sure what else it could be. Now it sometimes makes the sound for texts, but not the entire sound. Video sound still does not work at all. I thought maybe the latest ios update might help, but it didn't.
