LED Back light problems.

Hello all,

This is my first question in the forum :P I hope this is a common problem. Help me to identify the problem, It is the LCD panel, the inverter or LCD cable? What is the best way to find the problem?

This problem appears randomly usually when the machine returns form sleep mode. When I close the screen and open it again, the failure disappear.

My MacBook Pro 15" is:

Model Identifier: MacBookPro4,1

Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo

Processor Speed: 2.6 GHz

Memory: 4 GB

Boot ROM Version: MBP41.00C1.B03

SMC Version (system): 1.27f3

Serial Number (system): W883425MYJZ

And the Backlight of the LCD has this failure:

I find a video from another user on youtube with the same issue:

Update on this issue--

Now The backlit do not work at all. I can see the LCD panel works. But now, all the LEDs are off- External Monitor Works Ok I am using an old HP p1230 monitor. I have ordered the LED driver Board. I think it will arrive in 2 weeks... The old tube monitor looks too blurry!! :(

Again this only happened when you put the system to sleep via closing the lid Vs just using the menu (via software). If thats correct it sounds like the LED board has a problem.

It's a bit of work to get to LED driver board check to see if the connections are loose or the board has a problem. Review this pic LED Driver board.

Here's the steps needed to get to it Replacing MacBook Pro 15" Core 2 Duo Models A1226 and A1260 LED Driver Board.

Hi Dan,

Yes you are right, the failure is very easy to reproduce in this circumstances:

1. After boot i leave the system unattended for some minutes. After returning from sleep mode 50% of the leds do not turn on. To solve I only close the lid or put it again into sleep mode (via the menu or the power button).

2. In bootcamp the problem is very rare, 1 or 2 times since this issue starts.

I will order one of this LED Driver board to see if that solve it!

cheers
