How do I Replace CMOS Batteries in an Averatec 5400 and 6200?

Both of these machines no longer will hold CMOS settings. How does one change the battery in each, and what type of batter is used?

Generally the CMOS battery will be located on the computer's motherboard. You will have to disassemble most of the laptop if there isnt a panel that will allow access to the battery. The type of battery that powers the CMOS is usually CR2032 cell battery (Sometimes known as a watch battery), or something similar.

I found one guide ehow for the 6200, but in all honesty, if you have taken apart a laptop, then you'll be able to figure out a way to open up both of the computer's and find the battery.

The batteries in laptops are sometimes special batteries wired up with a connector, usually shrink wrapped as one piece. It is still connected to the motherboard. Keep this in mind as you take the laptop apart.
