after replacing proximity sensor, screen activates randomly.

hello

i followed the guide: Installing iPhone 4 Power & Sensor Cable to replace the flex cable, as my power button did not work at all (btw, seemed that the problem was not the flex itself, but the screws that holded the button, they needed to be unfasten a little, ot it will not work)

anyhow, now the button works perfectly, but the screen looks like it's not calibrated, I click in one area, and itt activates other.

seems I messed up something when I replaced the flex cable, but I do not understand what, as if I broke the digitalizer flex, it should not work at all....

anyhow, any tips?

edit: I used a finger-draw program to see sscreen behaviour and seems that detection on some orizontal areas is missing:

(I can not "paint" in two horizontal bars at the top, looks like it's not registering my strokes)

similar to this, where XXXXX marks the area I can not paint:

still defective... any hint?

Sounds like a bad digitizer. The "wiring" inside the digitizer appears to have failed. Replacing the assembly should resolve your issue.

I would assume you damaged the cable for the digitizer when removing the screen assembly, or when putting it back on. Its very easy to damage if you are not experienced in taking those screens on and off.

There are many tiny wires and leads within the cable, So its possible you damaged one or two by accident and its only affecting part of the screen assembly.

Check the connector and make sure its free of dust and seated properly.

If its still giving you problems. I would replace the screen assembly.

And remember to be very careful when feeding the LCD and Digitizer cables through the frame into the back of the phone. They can catch on the opening and they can be bent at too extreme of an angle and break one of all of those tiny wires causing a bad spot in the digitizer.

Hope this helps!
