My iPod went through the wash, and will only work if I plug it into my laptop, or iPod dock. When it plays, the backlight is completley dark, but it still plays. However, it does not turn on if I want to listen through my headphones.

How come "it may be a short in the headphone port"..
In what way is headphone port is connected to the backlight, please explain!
