Touch on iPad 2 doesn't work

My iPad 2 glass screen shattered in a suit case... I replaced the screen with a digitizer/glass and didn't snip any of the danger wires. The wifi is still intact as is the flex cable... however. when I power the iPad on the touch pad isn't responsive. It does work.... Any help...

yes... all the cables are connected. I can turn on the iPad and all the buttons work. However when I can't even login cause of course you need the touch pad to slide to unlock.
