My friend gave me his iPhone that he went swimming with. When i plug it in the screen shows the apple but the back round is gray and there are many lines across the screen that that appear and disappear. i but it in recovery mode and when i try to restore it it says, "Unable to restore iPhone. AN unknown error occurred (1603). is there something wrong with the logic board?

Restart Your Computer
Simply restarting your Mac or Windows PC may allow you to successfully restore your iPhone.
Try a Different USB Port
Connect iPhone to a different USB port on your Mac or Windows PC. USB 2.0 ports that are built-in to the computer are preferred.
After doing this, attempt to restore your iPhone in iTunes.

Hi,
after a little swimming you don't know if there is something damaged or just still wet. So open it up*,put it in a bag with uncooked rice for a couple of days and then try again. If the error stays the same, it looks like an issue with the logic board.

First things first, reinstall iTunes to latest version. Don't rule out that it could be iTunes freaking out and not your iPhone. I have restored them to factory default a few times and if it worked, it worked- i.e. if the phone acts normally (like when they're new without apps) then it worked.
