My touch screen only works in certain places after teardown. why?

I opened my phone up, attempting to retrieve the home button assembly to clean in rubbing alcohol. I followed your teardown instructions to the word, cleaned the button, and followed the instructions backwards to re-assemble the phone. The back did not go on, still will not; I can't figure out why. turned the phone on, the button works better! hooray! Went to unlock the phone, and I cannot put in my pattern as the digitizer seems to only be registering touches in certain places. please help me! I need my phone. Will i have to order another digitizer for some reason?

Theo campbell, it is my experience, that whenever a digitizer does not work in certain areas, the circuits have failed. Of course, since you just worked on your phone, you also want to make sure all the cables are properly connected and that the connector pins are not bend or broken. Ultimately I suggest to replace the assembly.

I have looked at all the cables, and there was a small loop in the digitizer cable that I had accidentally folded over itself. i think this is what broke it.

It is easily possible to break those ribbon cables, and it can happen to anybody. Hope you'll get it fixed.
