iPhone 4 won't turn on with back glass on

Hey Guys,

I have an iPhone 4 which I bought in 2010 when it first came out (GSM from AT&T). I faced this problem after 6 months of replacing the display by myself earlier this year after it shattered. I used an original one, bought from iFixit. The specific problem is that I will be using my iPhone, put it aside for a moment and then come back to continue using it to only find it turned off.

I tried holding power button by itself, together with Home button and even Home button alone, all for 30+ seconds. None of them turned it on, so I plugged it into the charger and it turned on! However, the moment I unplug it, it will go back to the same state. I suspected the battery was dead, so I replaced it with a new genuine one from ebay. Nope, that also didn't solve the problem.

However, I discovered a weird thing. When I remove the back glass, it turns on just fine and operates normally. If I put the back glass on again, it turns off. So, right now I am using an iPhone with exposed internal organs. I looked up the problem, it seems that no one else has the same problem. Do you guys have a solution to this problem?

Thanks

That is a problem I have never had to deal with or even heard of before, I can only guess at this one but it can only be a couple things, the first thing I would do is try a different back panel just in case there is some unforeseen problem with the one you have, if that doesn't fix it I would check inside the phone to see if the motherboard is correctly seated in the frame or some other obvious piece of hardware is not where it should be, my guess would be if it isn't seated the back panel is putting pressure on circuits and causing your problem, good luck and would love to here back about a solution for this one !
