"No Service" after disassembling and reassembling iPhone 3G, WiFi Work

My iPhone 3G displays a "No Service" message after I dissasembled/reassembled it. I did not replace anything during this process.

Nothing wrong on AT&T's side. I have tried it in multiple different areas.

I have tried reseating my SIM card.

I have opened it up several times to check to see if anything is disconnected - as far as I can tell nothing is.

My wifi still works.

Any ideas?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Alright so, open up the iPhone and the wireless antenna is on the bottom its the antenna and speakers/dock connector all in one. unplug the ribbon cable on the board on the bottom left, check from damaged pins on both male and female sides, if bent verrry carefully try to push them in place,,, very carefully, give them a good blow and reconnect then go to your settings and reset network settings, give that a try

The 3G does not have a GPS connector as some1 stated it has 2 gold prongs on the right of the speaker make sure they are both touching the chrome bezel

I have the EXACT same problem with my iPhone 3G.

Just replaced the "main" flex cable due to a broken on/off button and now I get "No Service", but WiFi works.

I've verified all flex cables are connected, and even triple checked flex cable #6.

Anyone with ideas/suggestions?

Perhaps I've used a 3GS main flex cable instead of a 3G one?

PS,

It originally complained about not being activated, and that activation would take some time, left it over night, in the morning it said it was activated.

FYI,

All my downloaded apps close immediately after starting, but iOS default software (like maps) works - very frustrating.

Wi-Fi and GSM/WCDMA connectors are different.

Wi-Fi RF connector (J3_RF) is close to SIM.

GSM/WCDMA antenna with the connector (J4_RF) is on the bottom side.

Check well the antenna connector area and try to replace it.

(New one price is about $1.5 USD on eBay).

Good luck !

Hi,

I have had the same problem aswell. I get full service in 3G areas but nothing outside of that area. Everything has gone back in the iphone in exactly the same way it was taken out, except a little gold clip. Where does that go, and is that causing my problem?? I have taken 2 other iphones apart and these clips have not been in them, and when I resassembled they have all been fine.

I have checked both antennas three times and they are all properly attached.

Worried about this small gold thing...

Thanks,

Jamie
