3GS home button & wifi not working after water damage?

After dropping my phone down the toilet I have now cleaned the logic board & replaced the battery. I have a signal now but my home button isn't working at all & I have no wifi. I've checked the 2 metal prongs for home button & pushed them up slightly, I can't see but am pretty sure they're in contact when put back together. Any advice for these problems is most appreciated, my old nokia just doesn't cut it anymore, need my Iphone working!! Thanks

Answer this question I have this problem too

Well the home button issue could be cause by one of two things.

Either the flex cable itself is burned out or the dock connector (which has the two contacts for the home button) is bad. You can easily test by turning the phone oe, removing the bottom screws and opening it up just enough to get a metal screwdriver inside. Place the tip of the screwdriver on one of the metal contacts on top of the dock connector and then touch the shaft of the driver to the metal frame on the outside. If it trigger the home button action on the phones screen, then just replace the home button flex cable. There is a guide here on how to do that. If it wont trigger a home button action (usually opening an app is the easiest way to tell, if it closes then you;ll know) then you will need to try a new dock connector assembly.

The wifi signal is a little more tricky to troubleshoot. Check the antenna cable and make sure it is still circular and everything is connecting properly.

Hope this helps

Take the phone apart and thoroughly clean the inside if it got wet you need to remove any and all residue and corrosion for the phone to function properly.

Which is the antenna cable? I've never attempted anything like this before & not sure which 'bits' are for what! Thanks

Ok, I've cleaned all connectors etc & tried the screwdriver trick, it works :) so will order new home button flex cable. I'm not sure which bit I need to look at for wifi though. I have a signal & can make calls & texts just no wifi. When you go into settings its just saying no wifi & if I click on that it won't go any further. Is the wifi the same as the gps antenna? Sorry, I'm not technical at all but willing to have a go & try & fix it! Really appreciate the advice, thank you
