Why dont my speakerss work?

my iphone (1st generation) doesnt work. if i call somebody i can hear them but they cant hear me and when i try to listen to music it will play but i cant hear it? what can i do to fix it?

May be the flex cable.First try to remove and clean the connector also i doesnt work than you have to change it.
