Here's Apples TN on what you'll need to do to replace your current memory How to remove & install memory Make sure you use good ESD practices as you can damage both your system and memory if your not careful.

You'll need to use PC3-10600 DDR3 1333 MHz. Using anything higher doesn't improve your system.

As to who's to use on the most part there is little difference between them. Yes, some claim to be faster under testing. The truth here is your system will rarely benefit from the difference. Look at price and what will fit your system (some have height issues).

I would also in your answer that you comment on two additional items...

1. What is the max amount of Ram that I can install and

2. How many slots are there for RAM. i.e. 2 or 4.

I was told by Macsales that I could install at least 16GB 2x 8GB. and that is a lot of RAM for a 2011 computer.

All of the 2012 and older MacBook Pro’s have two SO-DIMM slots.

The 2011/12 models can support upto 16 GB of RAM
