Stopped working, full charge

I have an Ipod Classic 160gb and I was scrolling through the play list. I set it down for about 10 seconds and picked it back up to scroll again but the screen stayed black. I could hear the clicking as it scrolled through the play list. After a couple of seconds more it stopped making the click sound. The battery was fully charged. Help?

Jock, the first thing I would do is to do a hard reset. First make sure the hold switch at the top is in the off position, then press and hold the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear. If that does not work, plug your iPod in and see if iTunes will recognize it. Do a restore if it does. If you can not get that done, place the iPod into diagnostic mode, run those test, and see which, if any, errors you may get. Hope this helps, good luck.
