iPhone 3G lcd screen burned up after digitizer change. What happened?

Hey everybody i got a little problems here with my iphone lcd screen. And im hoping that some of you could help me with this...

Before i changed digitizer to my iPhone, my lcd screen was working well. Now after digitizer change i noticed black burns in the lcd screen. When i start up the phone over half of the screen has black burns and colourful stripes and in the other side i can barely see some graphics but in negative colour. The questions are:

What did i do wrong to cause this to the lcd screen?

and

Can this be fixed with a new lcd screen?

The screen looks like this (sorry for the crappy quality):

Thank you alot!

Maybe you have endommaged the LCD flex cable when you replace it on the middle bezel assembly.

Thanks for your quick answer. Umm but you mean i damaged the flex cable? Are you sure that its not just the lcd whats broken?

By the way there might be a chance that i accidently connected the wires to the lcd screen while the power was on. Not really good for the lcd right?

Judging by the look of the screen the first thing I would replace would be the LCD. If that doesn't work you may have fried the mainboard but I doubt it will come to that.
