When I have encountered this problem usually a restore of the iPod will fix it, assuming the new screens work. So try connecting it to your computer and selecting Restore in iTunes.

The screen is white?

If the screen is white you can try to restart (menu+centre button).

I have had 3rd gen nano replace the screen after the white screen appear. I restrated iPod then works fine.

Make sure you are flipping down the small lock that connects the screen to the motherboard.

Otherwise, resetting and restoring the iPod is always a good thing to try.
