iPhone SE: Water damage, is my iPhone beyond repair?

My iPhone SE was not completely submerged in water, it was face down in a puddle and now my phone is damaged. It still sort of works, I can still use it and it still connects to wifi with a slightly distorted screen. Unfortunately, it doesn't recognise the SIM card and the speakers don't work although the vibrate function still works. I want to get this repaired as soon as possible and plan to take it in to a professional repair place but I'm really worried that it's broken beyond all repair, especially after hearing that water damage is not covered in my phone's warranty and the reputation of iphones breaking.

Is my phone beyond repair or can it be saved?

Thanks in advance!

iPhone 5s: Broken iPhone screen, Now it wont turn on

So I dropped my Iphone and the screen shattered, i mean there was glass on the floor. I continued to use it for a few days until i got a new phone then I put it in my room. I picked it up again a few days ago and plugged it in. Left it over night to charge. I don't get a charging sign, and the phone wont turn on. I've been told to plug it into my computer to see if after a while iTunes will detect it, and i'll know if its just the screen. But I'm wondering if that is what I should do seeing as my phone used to work even with the broken screen.

Any ideas?

iPhone 5c: iPhone 5c dropped > screen blacked out

I dropped my iPhone 5c the other day and watched the screen slowly fade to black. No cracks or anything, the fall couldn't have been from more than waist high onto concrete. The phone fell with the screen up. I've experienced symptoms that have progressed as follows:

First the screen showed a row of white squares at the bottom and that was it. The phone would still ring and I could still answer and field calls with the headset button. When I plugged it in to my computer it would make the "bong" noise every nine seconds or so.

I turned it off and then on again and the squares disappeared. The backlight was still on, while the screen was still nothing but black it was brighter than nothing at all. I could still answer calls and even attempt to communicate with Siri (who would tell me I couldn't access his/her help until I unlocked the phone, which I couldn't do).

I came home from work to a dead phone the next day, I charged it up and now the screen won't illuminate at all, and I can't seem to turn it on and field calls with it anymore. No matter what I do it will no longer ring or make any notification sounds other than the "bong" every nine or so seconds when I have it plugged in to my computer or an outlet.

I've opened it up with the proper tools and checked the cable connections, everything seems in order. What I'm worried about is the possibility of ordering a new screen/display/lcd unit from ifixit and finding out that there is something wrong with the backlight or something worse.

Is there any explanation for why the phone suddenly stopped fielding calls or even ringing? Is there any explanation for the backlight to stop illuminating the screen, even on a blacked out screen?

Any help at all is greatly appreciated. I'd like to figure this out myself and fix it, but I can't pull the trigger without having some belief that I'm doing something that will actually be productive.

iPhone 4S: Intermittent signal or "No service" after water damage

Some background

I recently fell in the water, carrying my iPhone in my pocket, but managed to crawl up after like 2 seconds. After getting out of the water the iPhone was obviously wet but not much more than from used in heavy rain I would think.

My first reaction was to try to shut it off and let it dry, but the phone kept rebooting, which I later learned was due to water in the dock connector that made the iPhone think it was connected to a dock/charger. Since I had no tools at the moment I simply tried sucking water out from the dock/headphone jack and let the phone rest for a couple of hours after which I was able to turn it of and did not use it (and the very sparingly for a couple of minutes) until a couple hours later.

Once I was back home I figured the phone had probably dried out, and I was left with a weird problem that disabled all sound output except for Siri and ring tones. I learned this was due to corrosion in the dock connector and ordered a new one which I also managed to get replaced using this wonderful guide.

Now, the problem

About two weeks after the incident, on the same day that I finally had time to exchange the corroded dock connector my iPhone suddenly lost its cellular signal, when reboot after a full battery discharge (the first one after the incident I think). This lasted for a couple of hours as I tried the usual tricks of airplane mode, rebooting and resetting the network settings. At best I was able to get a couple of minutes of 3G.

I figured the dock connector might have given up completely and proceeded with the replacement which went fine, and the sound/volume buttons etc. has worked flawlessly since. I tried a few phone calls after the installation to make sure the new mic and reattached antenna was OK and everything seemed to be working fine.

24 hours later I was back with the "No service" message. Sometimes the phone connects spontaneously for a couple of minutes, after which it will either go back into "No service" or display full bars 3G without actually being connected. In this state outgoing calls will dial silently for a couple of seconds before failing.

I reopened the phone today today to check all the connectors, the antenna connectors running from speaker and clean away any fingerprints (which I read could affect the signal). This procedure game me approximately 2 hours of good signal, but now I'm back with "No service" again.

Next steps?

So, I've been trying to read up on what to do next. I've come to think there must be some corrosion elsewhere in the phone.

As my phone works fine for brief periods of time I would not suspect I have lost the blue inductor coil that seems to be responsible for signal loss in some occasions. I would also guess that all connectors are in place. Otherwise I would get "No service" all of the time, right?

I understand the antenna (connector only I guess?) is located close to the dock connector, but it seems to be such a simple piece of hardware it would hardly be affected, and in which case I would definitely be able to see corrosion/rust. I have in fact seen traces of corrosion on the screws near the SIM tray, and some green corrosion thingy on a component underneath that I clean away with alcohol.

I starting to think my best option is a complete cleaning with alcohol, but I also fear that might be a little late now? In that case, does anyone have an idea on a specific component that I can clean/replace to address this issue?

I'd be extremely grateful for any tips or ideas regarding this issue.

EDIT: Just thought I'd add, my phone looks clean inside. Not anything like that pictures in this cleaning guide.

iPhone SE: No display after 5s screen on SE

Hi, I have a problem with iphone SE screen replacements! I fitted a 5s screen last week, upon testing, the LCD was very fuzzy, like static, so I thought it was a faulty screen, I tryed the original broken screen and it worked, so I tryed another new screen and same problem, I then tryed the original broken screen and now the display doesn't work, I can hear the phone but no picture. I have since fitted both of the "faulty" screens into iphone 5s's and they are working fine. I had another SE in today with a brand new batch of 5s screens and the exact same problem happened, tryed 2, very fuzzy LCD, original one not working. I did not screw the screens in, only clipped in to test, has anyone ever had this? Is there a new revision of screens that are for SE and backward compatible with 5s? I'm stumped.

iPhone 5: Battery and charge port changed, still won't charge?

A couple of weeks ago my phone ran out of battery and wouldn't take a charge. I noticed the charge cable wasn't sitting in the port too well so narrowed it down to a worn out charge port, ordered a new one, fitted fine, still no power.

I then figured it must be the battery so ordered a new one. Fitted fine, powered on once phone was connected to a charger (battery came with approx 75% charge) however, the battery won't charge further than this. I changed the charge port back over to the original and the same happens. Turns on once connected but will not charger, it must be connected properly as it is powers on when plugged in.

I think that I have ruled this out the possibility of this being a software issue. I have rebooted, restored, and update the phone with no change in behavior.

I need to know how the rear camera and flashlight are connected. Do they both connect to the logic board? Is there a sub board that they both connect to?

iPhone 5c: Black screen, constant vibrating plugged in?

I have had my Green iPhone 5c with AT&T since March 2014, I have taken great care of this phone, I used it regularly and dropped it maybe once or twice on carpet, nothing ever major. Top left corner of my phone popped out but it never seemed to mess with the function of my phone at all so I left it be. On September 26th of this year I was out at dinner and dropped the phone on its face and once I picked it up the screen was completely black, but lit, as if the back light of the phone was still on. I tried restarting the phone, charging it, and even calling and texting myself from my friends phone. While the phone was still showing apparent signs of life as in, vibrating, playing ringtones and sounds of screen shots and charger connections, the screen was still lit but completely black. After I could not find why my phone was messed up I let it sit and die for a few weeks. I then plugged it into my computer with the charger and it did not light up in black like it was doing before. The phone then started to vibrate, continuously every 5 seconds while plugged up. I have tried to hold the home and power buttons but that apparently only turns the phone off like I expected. I opened up iTunes and it just asks me to "respond on iPhone" and I cant obviously and the phone keeps vibrating every 5 seconds. I want to fix this phone since I have been using an old iPhone 4 for the past month and cannot take it anymore. Im hoping this is something simple and will take all the help I can get. Thank You!

P.S. I have not done ANY repairs on this phone, no screen, battery, etc. replacement. It is the original phone I purchased.

iPhone 4: Temperature Warning Sensor Problems with iPhone.

Recently I have come across an iphone 4 that had light water damage from a splash on a boat ride. My friend immediately tried turning the iPhone 4 off and it kept turning it self back on. After a few minutes (still cool to the touch) the iPhone 4 Temperature Warning Sensor appeared on the screen locking my friend out of his iPhone 4. He brought it in to me and we opened the iPhone to check for damage or extra moisture, I found a little corrosion on the top left corner of his mother board but no signs of moisture or heat damage. The iPhone still worked but was locked out due to the Temperature Warning Sensor being activated for some reason, even though the iPhone was at room temperature.

I am sure we could maybe just reset the iPhone OS and it may be fixed but we are looking to recover pictures from his trip.

Where is the temperature sensor located or is this just software written in the OS when the processor is being over clocked and or heating up? Just looking for anyones input or clarification on this issue.

iPhone 12 Pro Max: iPhone back glass laser machines?

I’ve been considering buying an iPhone back glass laser machine, but I’m having a hard time justifying the cost when I don’t have many customers asking for back glass repair. I’ve made mistakes in the past where I’ve splurged on machinery that rarely got use because I thought that by offering a service, people would come- only for Apple to flip the script and change designs. However, I’d wager that Apple will continue the back glass design rather than switch wood or something simply for the fact that it’s profitable to have an external indicator that your device has been abused.

Q 1. The machines I’ve seen in the market say they work with iPhone 8- iPhone 13, so my train of thought is this: If I spend $1,500 on one of these machines, it will take two years to pay for itself. Can laser machines be updated to service the iPhone 14, 15 and beyond?

Q 2. Are there other uses for these laser machines? If I could fix more than just iPhone back glass that would really seal the deal.

Q 3. Which laser machine to buy? There’s so many different models available, that shopping for one is exhausting. I’ve seen bare-bones machines for around $1200 which requires a laptop to run it, and I’ve seen other fancy models with touchscreens from $1,500-$2,000. For those of you that own laser machines, are there particular models that you like? That you would avoid?

iPhone 7: iPhone 7 Home button extension ribbon - Where to buy one?

Hi!

I have separated the lcd from my iPhone 7 but I was a bit to harsh on the little guy and I ripped the home button extension ribbon. Now I am having trouble to find a seller online. Does anyone have one for sale or know where to get one?

Does somebody also have a picture from the ribbon cable? The cable runs underneath the backlight so I can't get it out without damaging my working LCD. I am curious how it looks like. It would also help me out in looking for it online.
