Kenmore Direct Drive Washing Machine: Kenmore 70 washer intermittently stops spinning

Good morning, our Kenmore 70 series washer works perfectly fine (adds water, agitates, drains and spins) for about two washes/cycles. However, if we have to do another load, it will add water, agitate, and drain, but will not spin on its own unless we open and then close the lid. It will then drain and spin just as it should. Any ideas before I start throwing money at it? The only new parts it has is a motor/gear box coupler.

Edit: just wanted to add that it will do this during the middle of a cycle. For instance, it will add water, agitate, and then drain and spin just fine. Then during the rinse, it will add water, agitate, drain but not spin. All of this without touching the lid. To me this seems to eliminate the lid switch, since it will do this without touching the lid during the middle of a cycle.

Kenmore Direct Drive Washing Machine: Sears Kenmore Elite Oasis Top Loading Washing Machine will not spin

Sears Kenmore Elite. Replaced Shaft & Shock absorbers several months ago & cleaned. Then worked perfectly for several months. Very smooth compared to other washers over last 50 years we have had. Other than a very slight (nothing) clunk about every 5 seconds like clock work. Washes beautifully. Drains perfectly fine. Tub rotates & goes up & down manually. But when it comes to spin, after just a few seconds like clockwork gets UL error, even though it is spinning as smoothly as ever. What could be wrong with this thing?

I have continuity in the pressure switch and on both hot and cold valves. The motor makes a buzzing sound on spin as well… I'm at a loss, and hoping its not a timer.

Kenmore Direct Drive Washing Machine: Why is my Kenmore washer making a loud grinding noise?

Hi! I was hoping that someone may be able to help us.

We live in an extremely old home, (and although I do not understand the specifics) and our washer drains through the same pipe that our sink does. Anyway, we recently had a leaky pipe in our house replaced

( I'm not certain whether this has anything to do with our problem or not) but since then it seems as though our washer has been malfunctioning. The very first time we used it after the pipe fix, it began making this odd noise. We noticed shortly after that it was stopping itself mid- cycle. Today I tried to wash clothes, but the cycle stopped after wash, began making the grinding noise again, and then stopped the cycle completely. The washer continued to emit a loud grinding noise so I eventually tried to shut it off, but was unable to. I unplugged it and plugged it back in, and the cycle light and lidlock light came back on, but it did not start. Instead, the grinding noise started once again. We finally got it to turn back on, but now it is emitting a smell similar to that of rotten eggs. We really cannot afford to take our clothes to the laundry mat, nor afford a costly washer repair. Does anyone know what may be causing this issue? Any information would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Kenmore Direct Drive Washing Machine: Replaced clutch and transmission and now motor just hums

Hi, my washer was not spinning or agitating and I replaced the transmission and clutch, although I never found anything that actually appeared broken. It was also leaking so I replaced the center seal. In any event, I put it all back together (I thought correctly) and now the washer fills but that’s it. I can turn to any part of the cycle and the motor just hums. It doesn’t click like it’s changing cycles, doesn’t agitate, spin or drain. Obviously I did something wrong or something broke in the process of replacing the other items but don’t know where to look. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. This is my first time attempting this type of thing. Thanks!
