My Problem
Display had shattered on a relatively new, 64GB, iPhone 4S. My father-in-law dropped his 64GB, iPhone 4S and it shattered. He replaced it with an iPhone 5. He decided to give it to my son to use essentially as an iPod Touch. Given that it was 64GB, I felt like it was worth $100 to try and fix it given that a 64GB Touch is $400. So I ordered the kit, including the tools to make the repair.
My Fix
The process went great. I used a blank piece of paper and taped down the screws/pieces for each step. It took me a couple of hours but it went great. You guys are awesome! A couple of the steps I had to figure out the notes you guys listed, but all in all it was straight forward and everything works. I really appreciate it!
My Advice
I have a 4S where the power button doesn't work. I ordered replacement parts for this as well. I will tackle this tomorrow. But, if you have a cracked case, these directions worked like a charm and saved about $300 to get an equivalent iPod! Thanks again - iFixit!
