My Problem
My iMac early 2008 got too slow for what i was doing with it today. 3D, movie and sound editing. I needed to buy the PATA enclosure in the US (I am frome Europe). Ordering/Pricing/Tax/VAT/Delivery was amazingly painless and fast. Thank you for that ! :)
My Fix
The replacement of the optical drive with the ssd was a breeze with the help of the iFixit repair guide. Not more complicated than opening/repairing a windows/linux desktop machine. However, the little screw holes to attach the enclosure to the original black plastic bracket were about 1 to 2 mm's off. I solved that by taping the enclosure nicely to it with duct tape (a mac is stuffed with tape anyway :)
My Advice
When removing/re-applying some of the little screws, let somebody help you with lifting the mac to one side so the screws fall in a good direction when you let them fall accidentally. You don't want to remove the screen several times because you have to find a little screw again somewhere :)
