Take it to an apple store genius bar. They are replacing some iPhones, even after warrantee because the touch sensor is failing on the bottom.

Hello,
My home button stopped working (can only clear an app by restarting up top then being taken to home screen). This is a 1st Generation.
In addtion, the speakers don't work, the mic doesn't work, the USB doesn't work to connect it to iTunes (but it will sort of charge in the car and sometimes via plug). It's almost like it has no "feeling" from the bottom down.
What does work: the applications, clicking a phone number in Safari and making a call, headphone jack, blue tooth, and the whole screen and what not.
HELP! I took it to the "Geniuses" and was told to purchase a new/replacement...
Any and all help is appreciated!

Hi Melly,
You'll need a new display assembly that includes the all of the faulty parts (home button, etc.). Unfortunately we don't carry those parts, since they're really hard to come by and we just can't find a good source for them. In this case, the Geniuses are more or less correct -- your best bet is to get a new iPhone.
