Power and Volume buttons Work on their own.

Although the buttons aren't stuck, the controls activate themselves. The phone constantly goes to the "slide to power off screen" while sending a text, on a call, or whatever. if you slide to turn it back on it will stay for a few seconds (enough to type a few letters) then back again. If you do get it back and press the home button, it takes a screen shot (the power button has got to be constantly being pressed for this to happen). If you don't catch it to slide it back on then it gets stuck in a loop of being off and the apple logo until it is plugged in to sync and then it is fine. The volume just appears and goes up by itself randomly on touch screen presses. You turn it down it goes right back up by itself. The only time I can really use this device anymore is when it is plugged in and just synced. forget trying to make a call.

note-both the power and volume buttons press up and down as they should so i don't think the buttons themselves are stuck.

I noticed you never got an answer to this. Are you still having this problem?

It sounds like power button and "up" volume button are stuck on (intermittently). You should open it up and try disconnecting and reconnecting the Headphone Jack Assembly from the main board -- if that doesn't fix the problem (and you don't see anything obviously wrong with the buttons once you open it up), you may need to replace it.
