Apple watch touch not registering.

Hey all,

I recently finished repairing my Apple watch SE 42mm watch with a replacement screen straight from IFIXIT. However, now that I've gotten the watch charged, it appears the screen is not allowing me to touch it to use it. I have tried restarting the device, but it still doesn't work. Later on tonight, I will attempt to reset the pairing with my iPhone and update the watchOS on it.

Got any ideas?

Oh, and I haven't glued the screen on with my e6000 adhesive yet, but that's because I didn't want to have to re-open the watch if there was any issues that arose like this.

Ok so now after some reseating the Apple watch either isn't turning on OR it's turning on but the volume is muted and I can't seem to get the screen to output anything.

by

Nevermind, it's working (as heard by the audible chime sound when the charger is equipped), but the screen isn't outputting anything.

Does anyone have any idea? please people I need an answer ASAP.

Hey there, you need to give more specific informations. What does mean that "screen is not allowing me to touch it", does it mean the touch isnt working but display works (show image) or display doesnt work at all?
About posible problems, there may be few atleast:

  1. Display is damaged, sometimes happends even to new elements.

# One of the display connectors is damaged.

# Display works but touch doesnt work, in that case you need to replace digitizer on display, if you doesnt know how to do it this part my be tricky.

Clearly, you didn't see the context. As I had said, I recently replaced my old and broken screen with a fresh and new one from IFIXIT (a genuine replacement part). While it originally worked (albeit with no touch) now it doesn't display anything after reseating the cables, and idrk if touch works either. Is there anything I can do to try to get rid of this issue other than directly replacing the part?

I've seen its regarding new dispplay and as i mentioned sometimes even new elements have some issue, but lets assume its not the case here.

If your old display is still around and shows any kind of image, you could try to connect it back to watch to see if it shows anything. If yes then you know that problem is most likely with "new" display.

If noone of the displays works then there is posibility that flex cable that goes from matherboard got damaged, in that case you can solder a new one on its plays tho its pretty difficult if you never done it (flex cost on ali ~3-5$).

Try to check this and then we can think of some more complex reasons for this problem.

@hirad got it, will do. The old one is pretty damaged, but It might just work.

by

@hirad alright. So I tried my old one, and I can confirm that the cables aren't doing their thing properly.

by

in that case u might want to replace the flex cables but it'll be pretty hard. its best to check a video on youtube or find a detailed guide. if u really considered repairing them plz be careful about the temperature and the position of the solder points. also, they'll be very fragile, so take care reassembling the watch.
