There are two ways to factory reset the phone.

a). If the phone is still working then go to Settings → General Management → Reset → Factory data reset → Reset → Delete All.

b). Turn off the device. If you need to use a pin or password etc to power down the device and you don't remember it, leave the phone on until the battery dies and it will turn off. Recharge the battery if necessary after it has turned off.

Press and hold the Vol.UP + Power + Home buttons (all 3 together). When the menu screen appears release the buttons. Navigate through the options using the Vol.Down button to get to Wipe data/factory reset, press the Power button to select then press the Vol.Down button to select Yes

Note: If there is a Google or Samsung account associated with the phone then you will need to know the account user ID and password to access the phone to set it up after a factory reset has been performed.
