Options

“Fan error” upon startup. One of the fans doesn’t spin. How to fix?

One of the fans on the underside doesn’t spin, even when I blow air on it. The other does.

How can I fix it without disassembly? I don’t want to void the warranty or mess up and break it.

Currently running in backup mode so would appreciate any help!

@patquinlan you can't. You will have to disassemble it and replace the fan. If you do consider working on it, use the Lenovo X1 Carbon Gen10 Hardware Maintenance Manual to help you with that. Page 71 tells you what to do. Now, if your computer is still under warranty ("I don’t want to void the warranty") notify the seller and have them fix it. Ultimately somebody will have to fix it since it will eventually overheat and that will just cost you more money and time.
