DFU not working (extra words)

I'm trying to restore my ipod that won't boot anymore and I am following all the steps for putting it in DFU. Been sat on my arse for a solid 15 minutes doing it over and over but itunes keeps saying its not in DFU mode. It keeps turning on telling me to plug it into itunes, even though it should be blank. I am at an absolute loss on what to do.

I connected it to an old ass mac that I had lying around and it worked with no issues whatsoever, not even mentioning DFU. I love Apple.
