Why analogue stick go up and down not left and right after repair?

Just a quick one if anyone can help. Its about stick drift on this Xbox One controller. On the left stick after being replaced the drift disappeared. But another issue appeared, the stick on gamepad tester only goes up and down, not left to right.

I replaced another brand new analogue and still comes up with the same problem.

Any Ideas what this could be ?

Thanks,

Taro

Hi Taro!

Did you replaced it with specific Analog sticks for the Xbox controllers? I know that also the PS4 ones fit and exactly look the same, but they can differ.

Here you can buy it: https://www.amazon.com/ElecGear-Replacem...

If you used those sticks, please replace the other stick as well and see what happens. Also re-check your solder work to make sure that all is OK.

Hello Koppie007!

I didn't expect a reply, nevermind a reply so soon!

That is interesting you mention that. I have a bag of analogs. I have checked the guide on amazon you sent me. It looks like I have only 1 XB1 analog and the rest are PS4 analogs. lol... when I get time tomorrow I will swap those analogs out and let you know the result.

Thanks for your time !

Hello!

I managed to get round to doing it, great help it gave me some insight on different analogues. I did replace it with the right one (Gray under the bottom for Xbox one controller) Joints are all ok but it still seems to only go up and down not left and right =/. As far as my knowledge goes, would it be a faulty PCB possibly?

Many Thanks in advance,

Taro

@tarosquire It probably is a faulty circuit board if two or three different sticks have come up negative i belive there is a guide on how to replace the motherboard (Xbox One Wireless Controller Model 1708 Bottom Motherboard Replacement) and you might just have to do that

by

Yeah, when you have replaced it multiple times now (for the correct ones), it must be motherboard related… sorry!
