Replacement display without fingerprint scanner

The original has 4 contacts in a boxed shape for the scanner. While the new display has 4 contacts in a line or row. When I put the original scanner on the new display and connected it to the phone. My display did not light up, even after plugging the phone in and I could feel the shaker weight move when I pushed the buttons. What is the difference in contact formation and what would cause the display to not light up? Ribbon cable is not damaged and properly seated and secured. This is my first Google phone repair and I went with a cheaper replacement display to get myself acquainted with the phone. Will be buying the next display here. As I bought another 7 pro with a cracked display, to fix up for my mom.
