3ds wont read game even tho they both work

I got a new 3ds recently because my old one has a broken screen, but for some reason it wont play the same game, it just says it couldnt be recognized.

I know the game isnt the problem because it loads fine still on the old one, and I know the system is fine because it still reads my other ds lite games.

Anyone know what's going on?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Is the new console the same region as your old one? The 3ds is region locked, so it won't run out-of-region games unless you hack it. (Head to 3ds.hacks.guide if you decide to do that. It's incredibly easy, just don't use any other guides). If that's not it, load up the pins on one of your gamecarts with as much isopropyl alcohol as you can, and push it in and out of the slot a bunch of times to clean the pins in there

I agree with Darth Mango, It does sound like you try a game from another region you are in.

The 3DS is region locked and so, you can only play US games on a US 3DS or European games on a European 3DS.

The Switch is region free (in case you wonder).

That could be it, how do I check what region it is?

@squish37093 open settings and find the version string in the bottom right corner of the top screen. The letter at the end tells you the region.

For gamecarts, it should be printed on the label
