Picture still distorted and white

Need Help!!!. I've been trying to repair a Toshiba 50ul2063db. The TV was only 15 months old when it went faulty. The picture would not come through but still had a glow which told me the backlight was ok. After watching loads of YouTube videos I decided to replace the mother board but still had same problem. I then decided to replace the Tcon board, a picture did come through but it was white, distorted with horizontal lines and also the whole picture would flick from white to black every other second. I then decided to remove a ribbon cable from the Tcon board. The first cable was the left, the picture was dark on one side and white on the other but I could make out the app images when I pressed the home button on the remote. I then put that cable back in and removed the right cable from the Tcon board. The picture was distorted both sides.

. I have also cleaned the ribbon cables. The parts I changed were not brand new. Any help please

Still struggling to identify which panel is at fault left or right. I have tested the standard voltages on the Tcon board and they are all what they should be. Also I've checked the ribbon cables and there not in the best of condition see pics

If I take the right ribbon cable out of the Tcon board the right panel goes black and the left panel goes white but can see a slight image from pressing the home button on the remote.

If I take the left ribbon cable out with the right in, the left panel goes black but the right panel has a backlight glow with some horizontal lines

@peteblun let's make the assumption that those boards are okay. What your screen is showing would be very unusual for a board issue but nothing with Toshiba is a surprise. Anyhow, at this time, since you pretty much replaced all the board already, the only thing left to assume is that this is a driver board (those long skinny boards that are permanently connected to the LCD screen) error. You know you are getting power to the panel but no data. So try a Tape-Off on the data lines. something like this (just go past the blah, blah, blah :-) It's a bit time consuming and even gets frustrating but it does work 3/4 of the time.

I've seen this video before. Is it possible to replace the driver board. I've got the same tv coming tomorrow which has a smashed screen. I was hoping to use the driver boards from that. It looks like the panel cables are glued to the driver board.

I'd need a magnifying glass to do that repair also what tape do you need to do this?

@peteblun no it is not. The way they are bonded and teh way they are spaced makes it pretty much impossible to repair unless you got around 75K for the proper machine :-)

I prefer the Tesa clear tape. It's like scotch tape but does not tear as easy as the department store brand.

Ok thanks I will give the tape a whirl. Or wait for another faulty Toshiba with a good screen

I've personally never seen this last before you end up having more issues, but on the other hand the TV or display is junk anyway. Even if it extends it out long enough to find a donor, you aren't making it worse. It's like when you clear a DTC and hope for the best; it may help, it may not. BUT you're not making it worse either.
