Flashing Orange light on Power-Up

History

Hi, Can anybody suggest an alternative remedy. I replaced the hard drive on my 1st gen Apple TV as I was told it would almost certainly the hard drive. After ordering one and fitting it, I still have the orange flashing light.!!!

Any other ideas what it might be ?

1. unplug unit

2. after 1 minute plug back in and hold the menu and button for 3 seconds.

(unit should reboot and go into recovery mode)

3. In recovery mode, run diagnostics and if passed then perform factory resotre.

4. Problem should be resolved - resync with iTunes, run updates

Two reported causes: - failed apple update, failed logic board. You know if you did the update. . . if you can put the HD in an external case or different machine you might be able to wipe the drive and start over. Good Luck,
