No sound during calls, chipped logic board
Dropped my iPhone 4, replaced the screen. Works fine apart from when making phone calls I can't be heard or hear with earpiece speaker phone Bluetooth headset or headphones. Sound works perfect for camera Skype and voice memos. I have tried everything, and i mean everything and now i am debating whether it is the fact that my logic board is chipped, seen in the picture. Can somebody tell me what the component is at that place where it is chipped and whether you think it may be the culprit. If so is there anything I can do? I am desperate!

Try going to settings and then sounds, then turn the volume all the way down with the slide bar after that turn it back up, sounds strange but has worked for me on multiple occassions!!

you have a faulty screen, I had the same problem when i purchased a cheap one on eBay. I could not get any sound during calls and the other person could not hear me either. I put the old cracked screen and everything worked fine. I complained to the seller and got a refund, I brought another one which was a bit more expensive but it worked fine.
its a hit and miss i have found with aftermarket LCD/Digitizer screens some suppliers are cheap but somewhere in the manufacturing process something got screwed up, other times its good.

take a pair of headphones and plug them in to the jack. Make a test call. If you hear audio and can hear the caller then it is the earpiece speaker. Got to ebay and buy a kit with the part, and tools. SHouldnt cost more than about 4$ us. come back to this site and you will find a manual on how to replace the part. pretty easy, took about 30 min

Hey Will thanks for the response, i have already tried every type of connection for phoning including a Bluetooth connection in a car and it still has the same issues

Change the dock connector mic assembly. The apps all work off of the top noise cancelling mic and the calls work off the bottom mic on dock connector. Phone may be stuck in headphone mode.

hi guys i have the same problem but the funny things is when i used skype or viber or any apps they work fine bur when i try to make call from my sim card i couldtn hear anything please help please

Yes this was the case for me, it is because there is two different microphones in the iPhone 4. One just for calls that has noise cancellation capabilities and the other for voice memos and other apps! Still not found a solution, i believe it is because my motherboard was slightly chipped at the top
