Has my data been wiped from my iPod Classic?

I decided to see if I could get power to my Ipod Classic. I purchased a firewire charger and plugged it in. It booted up fine and seemed to have all the songs I once had.

After 30 minutes I then took it off charge to see if it might be holding charge. It turned off automatically so I put the charger back in and it booted up.

I then left it for 3 hours. When I returned the apple sign was showing and it then said plug in to restore from itunes.

Does this mean my data has been wiped off my hard drive? Or can I still retrieve it?

Best,

Gabrielle

@gabrielleqsey for as long as you did not restore it. It seems like your iPod is just trying to go through it's usually routine as mandated by the firmware. Your files should still be on there. For now, I would go with a USB-to-Zif adapter and see if you can access the drive as an external USB drive. You could also try to place it in disk mode and see if your computer can access it. Just stay away from iTunes and make sure that iTunes is not set to an automatic restore.
